I earned my bachelor's degree in Molecular Life Sciences from Wageningen University & Research, where I developed a solid foundation in the biological sciences. One course about the human brain particularly sparked my interest, leading me to do a minor in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Utrecht. Building on that knowledge, I pursued a master's degree in Biomedical Sciences at Radboud University, with a specialization in medical neuroscience.
During my master's program, I undertook followed an impactful internship at the Genzel lab, where I focused on schema learning in rats using the HexMaze. This experience not only deepened my understanding of neural processes but also honed my research skills in behavioral neuroscience. For another internship, I engaged in a research project examining the influence of bacteria on the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, an area that highlighted the intricate connection between microbiota and neurological health.
After completing my master's degree, I returned to the Genzel lab as a lab manager, where I oversee various research activities and contribute to the advancement of our scientific inquiries. I also work for Erik Storkebaum’s fly lab. My journey has equipped me with a unique blend of expertise in molecular life sciences and neuroscience, and I am excited to continue exploring the fascinating intersections of these fields
